Who We Are


Ilisa Spitzer Nussbaum , RD CD-N, is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, certified by the state of Connecticut.  Trained in the Dietetic Internship program at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Ilisa currently works at Yale Children's Hospital coordinating the Ketogenic Diet Clinic. The mother of two hockey players and a little ballerina with a background in television and marketing, Ilisa has also worked as a caterer, cooking instructor and lecturer.  For the past 8 years she has also been a volunteer, teaching cooking and nutrition to kids with special needs, at preschools, and to youth sports teams.  She is available for private nutrition consultation at info@cookingcorps.org or through her website www.ilisanussbaum.com 

Joining Ilisa are the Cooking Corps troops: students in the Dietetics program at the University of New Haven, who are excited to share their love of cooking and passion for nutrition. 

Leadership positions include:

Chris Barrett, Program Manager, is a Graduate Student at the University of New Haven from Fairfield, CT working towards his master's degree in Human Nutrition. Chris has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from Sacred Heart University; and earned a second Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of New Haven. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  Chris is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle with a combination of eating nutritious meal and maintaining a consistent exercise regimen.  Passing this knowledge to the future generations is his true passion!  

Chrissy Clarke, Undergraduate Coordinator

My name is Chrissy Clarke, I am a senior at the University of New Haven. Finishing up my last two semesters as an undergraduate then plan on applying for a dietetic internship this winter. Started assisting to help start the newly established Women's Rugby Club here on campus. I am now the Vice President of the club, working on scheduling as many matches as we can this year. Also an active member of the Nutrition and Dietetics Club.

Jillian Clark, Undergraduate Coordinator

I am an extremely passionate person which is why I love to dedicate myself to people who know they can depend on me. I have been the Risk Manager and now Vice President of my sorority, the president of Club Field Hockey at UNH, and now the Vice President of the Nutrition & Dietetics club. 

Every Cooking Corps project enlists the help of additional volunteers from the UNH student body so that every willing dietetics student has the opportunity to give back.
